CD Duplication
Media replication is a specialist field. Mastering & Replication
is our Speciality.
Don't trust your data duplication to just anyone.
Over the past year or so, domestic CD-R writers have dropped to incredibly
low prices. So much so that many people are now "burning" their own personal
CD-ROMs and Audio discs - which is great to see. Those a little more adventurous
(or those wanting to break the law....) have units that will burn 5 or
6 discs at a time using domestic type CD-R drives.
In our opinion, trusting your data to these type of operators is risky,
to say the least.
We've lost count of the number of customers who have had their duplications
done by one of these types of businesses - be they a printer, a graphic
or internet
design house or whatever - only to come to us to have the job re-done.
The main problem here of course is that domestic type CD-R drives were
never meant for continuous duty operation (i.e. in duplication systems)
and - after
a period of time through normal "wear & tear" - are prone to producing
discs with a significant number of data errors.
The primary reason for the increased number of data errors is due to
the fact that the majority of CD-R drives used by these sorts of establishments
were
designed for light-duty only and are not built to the same standards
and
tolerances as
industrial-grade CD writers.
As always, you get what you pay for and CD-R writers are no exception.
There are genuine reasons why some CD-R drives are available for
a few hundred
dollars while the pro-quality drives still cost several thousand.
Soap-box Time....
- Fact: There is a lot of "junk" media available in the CD-R
market.
- Fact: People often buy bargain priced media because it's cheap with no
real thought as to WHY it might be so cheap.
- Fact: When "cheap" media is used, it is usually the CD-R recorder
that gets the blame when a lot of CD-shaped drink-coasters
are produced as a result of the poor quality media being used.
In most cases, the money wasted making "drink coasters" would
more than offset the cost difference of purchasing and using a high-quality
CD-R
media.
We know CD-R media. We burn CD's for a living! If the low-grade
stuff was as good as the high-grade media, we'd use it!
But it's not.
Using high-quality media, our "coaster-count" averages
at less than 1 in 4000!! - which saves us time, saves us money, and
allows us to have complete
confidence in the duplications we produce.
